Job Description: The Subject Matter Specialist will be responsible for overall management of the
agricultural activities. S/he has to coordinate with Lead- Programme and other village level staff
for implementation of agricultural activities on field.
Key Responsibilities:
1.Technical Leadership and Coordination:
o Coordinate all agricultural-related activities under the livelihood program.
o Provide technical expertise to improve livestock management strategies that
enhance community resilience against shocks and stresses (disasters/hazards).
2. Field Demonstrations and Capacity Building:
o Demonstrate effective agricultural management practices on the field.
o Conduct training and capacity-building programs for producers and farmers on
themes such as feed formulation, small livestock breeding, herd improvement,
and related topics.
3. Exposure Visits and Learning Support:
o Organize and facilitate exposure visits to help beneficiaries gain insights into
various trades and promote professionalism.
o Conduct frequent field visits to mobilize stakeholders and beneficiary
communities in alignment with project goals and agreements.
4. Value Chain Analysis and Market Linkages:
o Conduct value chain analyses to identify suitable interventions for improving
livestock value chains.
o Collaborate with private sector partners to implement interventions that enhance
both quantitative and qualitative improvements in the sector, directly or through
service providers.
5. Project Implementation and Technical Support:
o Ensure timely implementation of approved support activities and strategies at
project sites.
o Provide technical guidance to field teams and beneficiary groups as required.
6. Stakeholder Coordination:
o Maintain and strengthen coordination with key stakeholders at the district and
project levels to enhance program outcomes.
o Respond promptly and effectively to internal and external client requirements.
o Organize and prioritize work schedules to meet client expectations and
deadlines.
7. Reporting and Documentation:
o Prepare and submit monthly reports detailing program activities, achievements,
and challenges.
o Document beneficiary success stories for use in organizational marketing
collaterals.
Desired Qualifications and skills:
• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Agricultural Engineering, or related
fields.
• Proven experience (2–3 years) in agricultural projects, particularly in goatery and poultry
initiatives.
• Computer proficiency with high level of familiarity with MS Word, Excel, Power Point
• Knowledge of agri-business models, value-added product strategies, and supply chain
development.
• Willingness to travel frequently to rural and remote project locations.
• A deep commitment to social impact and the NGO’s mission.
• Good communication and presentation skills, analytical and interpersonal abilities
Compensation: INR 4,20,000 to INR 4,80,000 per annum
